Email Scams & Safety

Email scams are nothing new but to some they will be hot news once they are effected by one. It is best practice to not open web links from people you know especially if the weblink consists of a non gramatical mumbo jumbo address, in fact don't open them at all. Always contact the sender (only if you know them) and ask first. Remember, your computer may be clean of infections but someone you know who has your address in thier address book may have an infected computer and therefore your email address may have been compromised from this source. As an extra security to this you should log into your webmail account and make sure the following are done: 1. Security information ;The questions you need to answer to validate yourself should you forget your password. 2. An up to date second email address 3. Change your password to a non-simple one Finally, if you have really inmportant emails then use a secondary address to forward them on to, this way you have them in two locations and if you get locked out of an account you are less likely to lose access to important emails.
